Blogs Will Not Be Necessary For Startups In 2025, Says Google

A Reddit user inquired whether startups in 2025 require a blog, posting the question in the SEO section of the platform. In response, John Mueller simply stated, “no.” This suggests that a blog is not an essential component for startups in terms of SEO.

In 2022, John provided insights on when it is advisable to start a blog and when it may not be necessary. He emphasized that one should consider blogging if they possess a genuine passion for a subject and have valuable knowledge to share. Additionally, it is important to ensure that the chosen topic is not excessively covered by existing blogs, as this could hinder competitive visibility.

Furthermore, Danny Sullivan, the Google Search Liaison, commented last year on the necessity of a blog or website for small businesses. He recommended that businesses maintain at least a basic website, noting that in 2024, having an online presence is a common expectation. Regarding blogging, he stated, “If you have something unique and interesting to say, and you believe your current customers would find it beneficial, and you can manage it alongside other business responsibilities, then it may be worthwhile to pursue.”

In conclusion, while a blog may not be a strict requirement for a startup, if you possess valuable insights to share, establishing a blog could be advantageous.
